Trinity Rescue Mission Certified Excellent

After becoming a certified rescue mission through the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) in May 2003, Trinity Rescue Mission was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in May 2005 during the 92nd Annual AGRM Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.

Trinity Rescue Mission earned this certification through a self-study process that required a comprehensive examination of its facilities, operations, financial management, programs and staffing. Every five years, certified missions are required to demonstrate they have met or exceeded all health and safety criteria established by the AGRM. The mission also was required to verify that its programs are well conceived, managed and planned, that it is adequately staffed and that its financial affairs are in good order.

Rev. Rex Whiteman, executive director of Union Mission Ministries of Charleston, W. Va., served as the mission's certification program consultant. He conducted a thorough on-site evaluation of the mission's operations and facilities as part of the certification process.

“Our board of directors identified the need to measure our performance as a rescue mission against industry standards or benchmarks,” said Rev. Gene Pruett, executive director of the Trinity Rescue Mission. “We joined the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions specifically to meet that need, and our goal was to become a certified excellent AGRM mission. This confirmed that we are providing excellent programs and services for our clients and that we are providing excellent stewardship for the donors who invest in the lives of the less fortunate through Trinity Rescue Mission.”

Meeting the criteria for excellence places Trinity Rescue Mission among the top such facilities in the nation.

"Through participating in the certification program, Trinity Rescue Mission has truly given evidence of its commitment to provide quality care for the homeless and poor," said Rev. Stephen Burger, executive director of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. "Having demonstrated its pursuit of excellence, Trinity is one of only 18 certified excellent missions within the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions."

The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions, founded in 1913, is an association of rescue missions and other inner city ministries. Today, its members include 300 Christian organizations that are reaching out to the urban poor, the homeless and the addicted in the major cities of the United States, Canada and overseas. The AGRM, headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., provides member missions with leadership training, educational programs, an information network and resources necessary to start new missions or expand existing programs for the homeless in their communities.
