As the only faith-based residential recovery program in Jacksonville offering long-term, comprehensive services to women and children, Trinity Rescue Mission’s Women and Children’s Center helps to rebuild the lives of the fastest growing and most vulnerable demographic of the homeless and hurting in Jacksonville—homeless women with children.
The sad, but common story of many homeless women — and their children — includes despair, codependency and hopelessness. Whether escaping a domestic violence situation, battling addiction, or suffering other trauma, homeless women and children are vulnerable to increasing dangers if not helped soon. In addition to the dangers of crime and violence on the street, rising instances of sexual and human trafficking, slavery and exploitation make homelessness for women and children a life-threatening proposition. They need a safe place to start over, where they can begin to turn their lives around. The Women and Children’s Center at Trinity Rescue Mission is that safe place.
Our 12-to-18-month Lifeline Program for Women and Women with Children provides a stable, nurturing environment where women work through addiction and abuse issues within the safety of Women and Children’s Center. Our women guests receive life skills education, counseling, and the help they need to ultimately become self-sufficient through career assessment and job placement.
An encouraging fact is that there are lots of specialized programs and benefits available to homeless women with children. However, knowing where to start to get help is often a challenge when you are also trying to break the cycle of addiction, abuse and poverty that caused your homelessness—especially when you have children to care for. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping our women guests in overcoming these barriers.
Each day, our Women and Children’s Center team works tirelessly to make sure our women and children guests get hot meals, clean clothing safe lodging and meaningful case management and life coaching that leads to employment, housing and complete restoration through the grace of Jesus Christ.
